In 4 days I'm headed back to jungle to rejoin the Amazon 5000 expedition. I'm excited to get back, although it will be a bit of an extreme. It will have been <1 month since I was in the cold in Canada. It means I have to miss PWYP but this will be a lot of fun. The plan is to get dropped off in the middle of nowhere in jungle and then walk back to Georgetown.

The cool thing about this jungle is that only 750,000 people live in Guyana and most of them live within 20 miles of Georgetown. I'll be hitting some pretty unspoiled jungle. This morning they encountered a jaguar, in broad daylight. WOW!

Have fun and take some pics. Had a fellow Blade forum member come to my shop we ended up chatting about your
trip comming up. Then here I click into Blade forums read your post lol lol.

I hope you have a GREAT time and come through on the other side safely (e.g. don't pee while swimming, etc....) and more skill as a result.

Make sure you post up your kit and get some good pictures of the trip and travel conditions...

Have fun Doc. Me and the grand-son always like to watch your travels . You going to thanks the prang?

OK I did first packing today and it is too heavy. I have to bring my bigger pack this time because I have to pack some food along (Ramen noodles, rice and beef jerky). It is too bulky to fit all of that in my Vulture 2. I have to mull it over but I am thinking of going with just a HEST 2.0 and a Victorinox Swiss Tool.

The parang is a proven winner and I'm not going to change it. It is also duplicated by 2 other machetes that will be along with the expedition. Leaving the parang at home saves 2 pounds and some bulk in the pack. The drawback is that if I get separated from the group I'll be without a machete, but I think I can manage, and the likelihood of me being separated is small.

The fixed blade I made is also good and I know what changes have to be made to it. I'm not sure that bringing it would add anything other than the ability to say I had been in jungle with it. I'm torn on that though, because the knife and sheath only weighs 8 ounces.

The other thing I am considering is leaving my soy sauce and sriracha at home (GASP!) That would save about 2 pounds and some bulk in the pack. I think I will replace them with some cayenne pepper mixed with garlic powder and some salt. That is a really painful decision, but I'm thinking it must be made.

I've already cut back to going with a really good repair kit and the clothes on my back. That should make for an interesting ride home.

I've still got about 48 hours to tweak the loadout.

Here is the entire loadout. The food will go quickly but we'll find more.

Looks good! I only see one lighter and if that is the case, I would grab one or two more. :D

Oh boy, you are really scared of the water, just come over and drink it, the worst thing that could happen to you is to die with great pain and suffering... just kidding.

Keep your feet dry and enjoy the not so rainy season.

Have a great trip.

Looks like a very well used kit...thanks for sharing; best of luck brother!

Hopefully that Cayenne will only be needed for the food.

Best wishes and a safe journey amigo.
