I know I'm mostly a lurker here, but the Busse forum is where I spend most my time reading, so I thought I'd drop a note.

My unit is finally headed over to Iraq. We're a Reserve Marine Wing Support Squadron that was activated back in May. After a summer full of training (Yuma in June and Camp Pen since) we're ready to go. Our Advon is out the door and I'll be gone before Monday.

Three Busses are headed out with me. A Ripper in a Spec-Ops Sheath, a BATac in a great BADASS sheath from Leatherman and a GW, also in a BADASS. They probably won't see too much use except opening mail and paper weights in the Motor-T Company office, but I'm sure the Ripper will see a few trips outside the wire on the larger convoys.

I should have access over there sporadically and I’ll check in from time to time. Hopefully, we’ll be back in mid-April. Please keep my Marines and me in your thoughts and prayers.

Stay safe, and let us know frequently (as you can) that you're safe man.

Thanks for your and your fellow Marine's service.

I'm with MWSS-473. Reserve unit with Dets in Miramar, Fresno & Ft. Worth.

Looks like we ate some of the same rotorwash.
I was with HMH-462 in MAG-16 from Oct 95 - Jun 98

GlassJax - God Speed and Good Hunting. My 0351 son, who served two Iraq deployments, always spoke lovingly of Marine Air and the close air-ground support his unit enjoyed in both OIFI and OIFII.

Especially at Tustin. Used to love the artifical breeze coming off the flightline. Your guys were going by the nickname Screwcrew if I remember correctly. I had a good freind who was assigned to 465. Not sure I can use their nickname here. We probelly knew some of the same people depending on what shop you were in.

Which Det are you with?

remember trust them not. There are no Fit Iraqi civilians, they are either anorexic or Fat. The Fit ones may just be your enemy.

Go kick some ass and come back and tell us about it. Maybe send us some pics of Busses in action!

You don't even have to ask.

Keep your head down and stay safe.

We'll keep the INFI warm for you! :D

SMALL CORPS!

The MWSS-473 Det in FTW is made up of my old unit from DNAS-Grand Prairie 'back in the day'...

MABS-41 changed to MWSS and then moved across town to FTWJRB... :)

Best regards,

John
