This was an order from a fellow in Colorado Springs.Friction folder with weathered oak scales, file steel blade and backspacer, steel liners and pins, deerskin dangler with weathered oak bead, antique trade beads and tin cones. The customer did'nt want a sheath beacuse it is going to be a part of a 17th century wall display. The piece of wood in the pictures is how the scale material starts out.

Very nice. When first looking at the images, without reading your description first, I sure didn't think the scales were wood.

Thanks guys. I absolutely love this old barn oak for scale material, because it really does look like amber stag when finished, and fits right in with the type of knives I like to make!

Very nice piece. Old weathered oak makes very nice handle material. Daniel Winkler uses quite a bit of it.
The overall knife seems to be excellent. Wish the photos gave us a better look at the blade and bolster material.

Thanks Kevin. Giving credit to Daniel.I first saw it on one of his knives and that was what inspired me to use it.I used to play in the barn as a kid that this came from, so that makes it that much more fun to use. I was about to get up an see if I could take a few more shots, until I remembered I just sent it on its way to the customer!!
