Heading out today! Taking a BAD, BWM and a WAKI. My son Jacob will be carrying his first Busse, SAR3 Pumpkin! I will get pics of the knives in use, just to share with the Great folks here! Talk to you next week!!
Oh, and I am sorry that we weren't able to get together in Rapid City during my trip. The schedule was fairly tight. I drove back to California yesterday, which involved almost 1,400 miles in one day.
No Problem lunde!! Yes, the trip out to California is long and boring. I have driven out and back about 10 times.
d762nato, I know about the bears. It has been in the papers and on the news lately. The last attack was in Union Pass in Wyo and that is where we are going. I have the Smith and Wesson loaded up and ready. I just hope the bears do not get close enough that I have to use my Busse knives!! LOL!!
Last time I was in the Teatons camping, I almost died of Hypothermia. It was a close call.
Equipment issue (I did not check before). Luckily my fire building skills in the snow saved me. (Mental breakdown as well!!!! Once the Hypothermia got its icy fingers on my brain, I was not thinking clearly at all).
I just returned from that area. My daughter and I drove up there with 4 other folks from or church, to build a church in Dubois, Wyoming. It was my first time in that part of the country. I am looking forward to going back and spend some time in the mountain. I hope you trip goes well.
Did quite a bit of backpacking a long time ago in the Bridger Wilderness Area when I was high school age. My folks spent alot of time on the Green River over by Pinedale flyfishing. We took a number of family trips to The Tetons/Yellowstone/Glacier National parks. Really nice area of the country - I have fond memories of that area. I especially remember backpacking down to Long lake in the Bridger wilderness area. We were neophytes at the time and didn't really know what we were doing, but had a great time. Camped at the tail end of the lake. Fly hatch came out about 6 that night. My dad suggested that I should wade out and cast into some riffles. I spent about an hour out there. Got out - legs were blue from the cold water. Caught about a dozen fish. Had a ball. Ranger came by later that night - was really interesting to talk to him. Beautiful area - haven't been back for 35 years.
