Heading out to Vancouver for 3-4 days with my 12 yr old daughter, our first father/daughter trip.
Only carrying on luggage so sadly no sharps with me...

Thinking about going to Vancouver Island for a day, perhaps even try to get to Willowbrae Trail.

Any other suggestions?
thanks

try getting hold of pitdog, he lives on island and practically lives on the trails

Vancouver Island is great - I live in Nanaimo.

Since you are thinking of Willowbrae Trail, lots to see around the Pacific Rim national park.

In Vancouver, the north shore has lots of nature. Capilano suspension bridge is neat and on a nice day, going up on the gondola to the top of Grouse Mountain is spectacular. Stanley Park is also excellent.

For a funky shopping trip, Granville Public Market in Vancouver is great. Lots of cool shops and great places to eat.

Is there anything in particular your daughter likes such as science, art, animals etc.?

Thanks stargawker. Been to Vancouver in 2008 with my son so those other places u mentioned are on the list. Honestly my kids are happy in the hotel as long as they have a pool and restaurant. Lol. She likes rock climbing indoors. But I'll get her out on a trail. I have not been to the island before.

Im no longer on the Island as it is cost preoperative to live in such a place, but it is very nice to visit. Sadly 1 day is not much time to see much but its enough that you will be back. :) Enjoy you stay and if your on the lover island a trip out to Jordan River and the Juan de fuca Trail would fit your bill.

Mid Island: Little Qualicum River Falls, Cathedral Grove, Englishman River Falls, Coombs Market, Coastal Carvings Gallery, the beach in Parksville and Qualicum...and Tiger Lily Farm! (^__^)

island vibe is real, relaxed, outdoors, and natural spots abound...

Well yesterday we made it to the island.
I didn't plan the trip well so we had limited time.

Saw a place called tiger lily farm and got held up there for about two hours
Daughter went horseback riding and I met this fellow who lives down the road working his magic. :-)

Thanks for stopping by, it was great to connect!
I am heading out to the workshop, the clay on those blades should be dry and ready for the fire, hopefully they endure yaki-ire!
Glad you were able to absorb some of the island vibe and enjoy some beautiful places and spaces...

yaki-ire was a success! parting shots of the blade clayed up in preparation for hardening and after with "working finish" and a lovely old-style suguha hamon and turnback...will send it south this week.
