Heads up: .22 Price Hike in 2010

I was in my local funshop yesterday picking up my new .22(yay!), and the owner informed me that there's going to be a 17% price hike on .22 ammo come the new year. They were filling out their orders for next year, and the price of .22 had risen by 17%, though everything else was pretty much the same. He said they stocked up on as much of it as they could at the current prices, but once current stock runs out, the new stuff will be more expensive. The hike comes from ATK, the company that owns Federal. I'm not sure if it applies to all rimfire ammo, or just .22cal stuff, but if you're looking to pick up some of it, you might want to do it now while prices still aren't too bad.

Thanks for heads up I was going to get a few more thousand rounds any way.

What's the new toy?

Marlin 981T. I wanted a bolt action, cause I'm too lazy to clean a semi auto all the time, and the tube magazine so I don't need to buy new mags, or worry about remembering to bring them to the range. Also shoots .22 Long, short, and LR:thumbup:. Should make a fun grouse/squirrel gun when I go hunting:D

Hopefully, one of these days I can have a look at that. (I got a Marlin 925 bolt action .22LR)
By the way, thanks for the heads up!

Absolutely, I'll have my membership at the Poco club by, or soon after, the new year, so we can go paper punching any time.

I heard the same thing from the gal at Mountain Man Supply in Fayetteville (best ever name of a shop or what?). In fact, they had a few boxes at the old price and most at the new price already.

I was just in at Canadian Tire today, and the same 525 value box of Federal stuff that I bought a while ago for around $23 was up at $29.99. It may have read the wrong label, but I don't think so. That seems like a pretty fat price hike to me, more than 17%.

i was reading this over at ZS...:) i haven't heard anything about it, hopefully it isn't true... however i do have a few bulk pack on the way soon, for my new Ruger 10/22...:D
