As per tradition, this year's John White Memorial Best Bowie contest will start on Dec 26 and wrap up on Jan 1. Please start pulling together your submissions - there certainly have been some exceptional bowies produced this year!

But don't post them here in this thread - this is just your early warning. :D

See you all on the 26th!

my gut tells me this year is going to be pretty amazing. I'm really looking forward to it!

I had the privilege and honor of attendin Tha Gil Hibben Knifemaking Class and I had a Blast. I created a whole complete new design.

MY NEW DESIGN SPORTS A 12 INCH BLADE MADE WITH 440C STEEL. IT HAS A REALLY NICE SKULLCRUSHER PART. THE GUARD AND POMMEL, I CHOSE TO BE BRASS. I THINK I CHOSE RIGHT TOO.

ANYWAY, IT HAS WOOD HANDLE. AND IT HAS SPACERS NEAR THE GUARD AND ALSO SAME SPACERS NEAR THE POMMEL

I ALSO MADE A 2ND KNIFE TOO.

I JUST LOVE LOVE LOVE MY 2 HANDMADE GIL HIBBEN KNIFEMAKING CLASS KNIVES. THEY LOOK FANTASTIC WITH MY HANDMADE GIL HIBBEN RAMBO 3 KNIFE... AND WHEN I GET MY BRAND NEW HANDMADE WESLEY G. HIBBEN KNUCKLE GUARD FIGHTER WITH A 13 INCH BLADE... MAN THAT'S GONNA LOOK SOOOO GOOD ALLTOGETHER!!!

SOOOO, IT'S GOIN TO BE A VERY VERY GOOD CHRISTMAS AT MY HOUSE.

OHHH YEAH, I ALSO JUST RECENTLY GOT A HANDMADE FIRST BLOOD KNIFE NECKLACE.. MADE OF PURE SILVER

AND I GOT OTHER NEW KNIVES BUT THAT'S ALL I SHOULD SAY FOR NOW. I DON'T WANT TO BRAG TOO MUCH BECAUSE I DONE ALREADY KNOW THAT I HAVE THE BEST KNIFE COLLECTION IN HERE. I JUST DON'T WANT ANY OF YOU TO FEEL BAD OR MAKE YOU JEALOUS.

IT TAKES REALLY BIG MEN TO LOOK DOWN AT YOUR CHEAP CHINESE MASS PRODUCED KNIVES AND ONLY WISH AND DREAM THAT YOU HAD KNIVES AS GOOD AS MINE. IT'S OK... YOU GUYS CAN BE VERY PROUD OF THOSE CHEAP CHINESE AND PAKISTAN CLUNKERS. AND IF IT HELPS, I WILL EVEN BE PROUD FOR YA... WITH YA.

I KNOW THAT THE KNIVES I HAVE ARE A LOT BETTER KNIVES THAN MOST MEMBERS HERE. BUT I DON'T WANT TO BRAG TOO MUCH AND MAKE EVERYONE HERE LOOK BAD OR LOOK AT THEIR CHEAPIES AND THINK, "WHY CAN I NOT HAVE THE SUPREME KNIVES THAT GUY HAS?"

WELL ANYWAY, GUYS,. HAVE A GOOD ONE. I'M OUTTY HERE!.

Make sure you post pictures of them in Roger's annual "Best Bowie" thread on Dec 26th.

I can't wait to see them in the competition blowing away the rest of the mediocre work that will be on display in the thread.

I bet they do awesome.....you should probably start deciding where you're going to display the award.:);):D

thank you for preserving this incredible post, John

lmao

Wow, It's been a while since I've seen that level of grandiosity around here, let alone in this S/F... Must've taken a wrong turn somewhere on his way from a FB group

I'll be seriously let down if I don't get to see at least a part of that magnificent sounding collection! :D

I wanna see pics! This collection could rival the "beast man" knife of old!

woof! I was feeling pretty salty that day

Sorry that this particular post of A Alabama Bama has misdirected us. HOWEVER......

Methinks this is a troll just setting us up. That said, it's genius. Even referring to the illustrious 'Beast Man' knife of old.

Brass: "I chose well!"

I did a little looking and Gil Hibben DOES hold knifemaking classes, and ol' Gil is renowned for out-of-the-norm knives.

We SHALL see. AB: show us the MONEY!

It's been awhile...someone refresh my memory..

as a collector, can I nominate a Bowie I purchased, or are the nominations limited to knifemakers only?

Thanks and very much look forward to the thread!

Merry Christmas gents!

Hi Ron - you most certainly can nominate a knife that you purchased - or any knife meeting the broad Bowie criteria that was made this year even if it is not one that you own. Just try to make sure that any knife you nominate hasn't already been nominated earlier in the thread, as duplicates make life hard for the vote-counters. :)
