Enco model DP505-6840 5x6 horizontal bandsaw is on sale for $179 right now and they got free shipping this month. The reason I'm all gooey over this saw is that its the old style saw that Harbor Fright used to sell, then they moved to a crappier version. This saw has the old integral gearbox, and the old-style saw guides, which are way more accurate and dependable than the new style.

If you dont have a bandsaw, you need one if you want to make knives; it's that simple. Quit farkin around and GET ONE! :p :D

And to think I just blew my tool budget for a LONG time about 5 minutes ago:rolleyes:
Ordered a wire feed welder. Guess I can live with the hacksaw a little bit longer:grumpy: Thats what this smiley :jerkit: is doing right? using a hacksaw? :D

I doesnt show it in the pic at theyre site ,but does this model come with a table for cutting the the verticle position?

Not sure, but it's not a big deal to make one. You'd want to make your own for zero-clearance anyway so small cutoffs dont fall into the lower roller guides.

After finding out that it'll cost 70+ dollars to ship the Enco unit I'm wondering if I'd be better off with the same sized Jet unit that I can pick up locally for $279 the cost delta is under $30 and I'd have to pay sales tax even if I get it from Enco? Any comments on Jet vs Enco.

Thanks Tim

The free shipping is for orders of $200 or more. Maybe order 2 blades, and you'll be there...
Free on orders over $200 shipped by UPS unfortunately the bandsaw requires truck delivery which isn't free :grumpy:
