Washington State.
House Bill 1006 will make it a gross misdemeanor to carry a knife in washington that is more than 3.5 inches long

When does this insanity stop. Don't our elected officials have more important matters to attend to?

States are going bankrupt, the economy stinks, unemployment is still too high, wars raging everywhere, and this is on the agenda? :barf:

Uhh...I think this thread is going to be relocated.

Don't bitch here until you've written your congressman and senators.

Too many people will sign a petition, and post online, but won't send a letter to the persons who will be voting on this.

Agreed. I do so on a regular basis and get reasoned (although I don't necessarily agree with the reasoning) replies on fancy congressional stationary. How about you? Have you voiced your opinions to your representatives via snail mail?

What is really distressing is the conversations I've had with many of our youth who bitch about the politicians but don't even feel the need to vote.

Sorry, perhaps I shouldn't have posted on this thread because I am not a knifemaker.

If I have made a serious error by posting here then I ask for your forgiveness. It won't happen again.

You have not made an error. We need to know about these things to be able to write our representatives. When are they going to understand these laws just make it harder for law enforcement. It does not make the BG stop carrying. There are many laws on the books to prevent illegal carry and use. Intent needs to be considered always. Maybe we need to have a political section just for this type of information . Also we need to consider joining ATKI. They are fighting this type of uninformed legislation.

Intent needs to be considered always.

appears wording of the proposed law refers to "intent", unfortunately.

"........CARRY with the INTENT to conceal". That's pretty loose and would leave interpretation to the cops? How would you get a box of knives (concealed) into a knife show legally?
