Man, my first little mill was one of those. It was just like that.
"The knee crank handle and the left X axis handwheels were broken and repaired at some point in the past. Travels feel smooth.

Oh, holy crap! It was just like that. I had to make those two repairs on mine. If the on -off lever is also repaired - that may have been my mill many years ago. It got tipped and needed repair. ...I wonder...
