Hello.

Auto "brake cleaner" will start to kill the resin casing/buttons on g-shocks (as well as other resin band watches, probably).

Just lettin y'all know.

hmm, hasn't gotten mine yet mine is pretty well worn as it is though. probally has contributed to the way it looks now. the black has started to go away from the silver bezel and stuff and its almost like the resin casing is breaking away from the watch itself. weird

it didn't affect the resin case/band as much as it did the buttons. the buttons on my G are now a bit warped on the right side. all well. still works.

When I clean one of my 7 or 8 G-Shocks, it's usually with soap and water.

On odd occasion I might use isopropyl (rubbing) alcohol.

I never would have thought of using brake cleaner on a G-Shock, it seems kind of harsh. Still, thanks for the warning.

I usually wear one of my G-Shocks in particular (DW-6600), and after a few years of pretty constant wear it looks near new.

I don't use it to clean my watch. Am a mechanic and I usually don't take my watch off. My buttons are kinda weird recessed. I don't ever use a button on it, maybe once every couple months. It's the solar atomic so it's pretty much put it on and forget about it.

agreed, i don't habitually clean my G w/ brake cleaner either. i was just trying to get paint off of it, and it seemed like a logical solvent to use at the time.
