This Saturday and Sunday are the annual Celtic Festival in Austin. If you've ever been, then you already know it's a good time. If you haven't been, I highly recommend it. There's good food, good beer/ale, lots of merchants/vendors to shop for cool stuff, but most importantly (at least to me) lots of great Celtic music performed live by a variety of individuals and bands. Check it out http://www.austincelts.org/festival/

See y'all there, Guinness in hand, and mustard on my mustache from eating Scotch eggs. :D :)

Holy crap! Frankie Gavin, James Keane, and Dervish? That's going to be some party.

Wish I could be there - have a pint or three for me.

Sarge ? I have still as yet to become a man . Guinness alone still daunts me . I have been slowly building up my stamina . Good solid beers like "Three Pistols" and :Maudite" (Think "bloody Hell" when Maudite is said and you won,t be far off the mark.)

Its a bit of a stroll to Texas for these old legs . I,ll find myself a good Irish brew and play some tunes up here .

I,ll also be making some mead in the most basic of ways with a cheesecloth over the top of a jar as opposed to a new fangled burble valve . That will have me singing in Gaelic in no time. Even if I don,t know a word .

Dang, Sarge...that looks like a great time!

Even more disappointing....I passed with a dozen miles or so of your place last week...twice. On my way to Uvalde and back. We'll have to hook up next time I'm in the Dallas Area. (probably won't be for a few months, of course...see "new baby" thread. :D )

Have a great time!

Thanks Dan, I did indeed have a great time. Listened to some great music, and was tickled that most of the folks performing had CDs available. Of course I glommed up a few. Also got introduced to a food item that sounded kind of funky, but dadgum was it good, corned beef and cabbage wraps. I'd of never thought to take a bunch of corned beef and cabbage, roll it up in a big old flour tortilla, and eat it that way, but I was mightily impressed with the result. Almost bought some haggis, but didn't want to carry it around or do the four block round trip to the truck (parking was "adventurous"). Besides, the nice lady selling the haggis confirmed that she will be at the highland games I'm going to this coming weekend. MMmmmmmm, haggis. :p

Give a holler next time you head down this way Dan, I know plenty good barbecue joints right off I-35 (from West, great Czech food, on down to New Braunfels, great German food). Maybe not as exciting as chasing it with dogs and sticking it with a knife, but this here pork's already cooked. ;) :D

p.s.: they've opened a huge Cabela's outlet down by Buda (south of Austin). I've noticed Cabela's and Bass Pro Shops tend to get a more upscale clientele than us boys that buy our fishing tackle at Wal Mart. Ever talked to any of them big outfits about carrying some genuine Koster knives? Just a thought.

We stopped at that Cabela's on our way out to Uvalde (via San Antonio). Pretty cool store - HUGE!!

And you're right...they do carry some higher-end knives there. I do have something up my sleeve...but I ain't tellin'....:D  :p

So, am I upscale since I stopped there?

:foot: :D :p

Glad you had a good time. I sure to miss the Ren. Festival we had back in MD....:(
