Got a call a few minutes ago and the ultrasound results are in: Inconclusive. Seems they can't decide if I have cyst or cancer.

No invasive biopsy suggested. Recommended course of action: Another series of catscans and untrasounds in three months.

So, we are in limbo.

The worst case scenario remains the left kidney has to go and I still have the right which seems to be working well enough to keep me off machines in the foreseeable future. Best case anything that keeps me out of the hands of the butchers.

That's it. Will keep you posted on surprises and ongoing testing. In the meantime, it's way past Heineken time.

Got four blems laying here that I'll stick up tomorrow -- maybe!

Stay tuned.

At least they are not talking about putting you under the knives yet. Which should be some kind of good news. Let's hope any way.:)

A resounding Hayv!!!!:D And never let a surgeon get a hold of you. Surgeon means, "to cut" and that's what they do and assume all the other applicable tests have been done.:grumpy:  :(
I'm with my younger Bro Rusty about the dayumed doctors and their insistence!!!!

Go for the Heineken...
Sounds good to me!
Enjoy life, everyone's time will come either way, so may as well enjoy what you have.:D

will i get in trouble for saying that maybe uncle should stick healthy greens, raw tofu, and those dry rice patty things?

:(

Wasnt a CT scan done in the first place? Ultrasounds are notorious for their inaccuracy and are rarely used to make a diagnosis of a lesion being benign or malignant{which actually is a histopathological diagnosis}.The CT scan with contrast study is probably the best investigation for a renal lesion.
Some urologists consider CT guided biopsy of indeterminate renal masses as minimally invasive, cost effective, low complication rate and reasonably effective procedure. But on the other hand some of them are worried about spread of the carcinoma through the needle tract:o .

Anyway Uncle Bill I'm sure everything will turn out great because you have the power of positive thinking and the prayers of all the guys on this forum behind you.
Yaj.

Test plan went like this:

CTscan

CTscan with barium drank and iodine injected

Ultrasound -- 12 hour fast before

I'm not sure about the accuracy and/or validy of any of these tests. Should I ask for an invasive biopsy or let things ride to see if things change when the next barrage of CTscans and ultrasounds take place?

As I've mentioned, I have Christians, Moslems, Jews, Hindus and Buddhists praying for me and even one Atheist I know offering up a prayer to Buddha and every now and then I take up some of God's time to send a prayer up for myself. Usually prayers are for other things and I put myself at the bottom of the list. The upside of all this is I believe prayers work so the longer I stall regarding the knife the longer the prayers have to do their stuff so I'm not in any hurry, not worried, and know that my death day is already written and can't be changed so no need to worry on that account.

I'm just trying to avoid all the misery I can before my death day arrives and getting a kidney cut out is not going to be the way I like to spend my time so I'm all for avoiding this if possible.

More prayers sent Uncle !!

I'd sit tight till they can make a firm decision on what it is. DOn't let the buggers cut you - that normally causes more problems. If you feel you need it then let them but I suggest waiting !!

Brendan

praying for you Uncle !!

:)

I don't like praying for myself either, Uncle Bill. But I believe, and hae heard same thing from various teachers/pastors/etc, that praying for others will also get God to hel you with what you need, as you are following his will in caring for others(again, applies across the board).

And prayers are definitely goin gout for you. Not sure that I'd suggest the biopsy myself, I hate knives and needles(wait, taht sounded really wrong. I love knives, jsut hate them cutting me with a doc behidn them :D). What I might suggest, if you can, would be to get your CT and ultrasound results and have another Doc look at them. If he says same thing, then stay away from them all for 3 kmo, and come back. But if he thinks it might need a biopsy, then consider it. That way can get second opinion, but still hopefully avoid knife for now.

Good news Unnca Bill.

Put off the surgery as long as possible. Once they start cutting, they never seem to stop with one surgery.

Keep enjoying yourself, and take the rest as it comes. If you need anything, there're plenty of folks who'll come through for you and yours.

No worries...
