Back from the clinic.

Find a good horse and ride it to death. Tomorrow scheduled for yet another test -- an ultrasound of left kidney. Supposedly this will tell me whether an invasive biopsy is necessary or not. Left kidney pretty ragged and beat up but right is not so bad and function is okay. Worst case -- left goes. I still have one that is working reasonably well.

More not so good news. Couple of cysts in liver. Will have to monitor all this stuff every six months for as long as I might live.

Ecoli infection down but not out. 5 more days of Cipro.

And, continue to lose weight. Broke 160 and am now 159. Same weight as 50 years ago when I was starting back to college after US Navy. Varsity track man, long jumper. 155 to 160 pounds. 28 inch waist, 44 inch chest. Today it's the other way around. I weigh the same but now waist is 44 and chest is 28. Subtantiates the old saying that things change but stay the same.

Strangely, I see some sort of cosmic humor in all this and find myself chuckling. I have no pain for which I am extremely grateful and thankful to Lama Jigme for his intervention. ("I can relieve the pain but I cannot correct the condition. You must see the doctors.")

So, life continues on as it has since the beginning and will until the end. I am simply doing my karmic dance at this time and place in the universe and it is of little importance in the scheme of things but in the Sangsara where I am the center of the universe I am deluded into thinking it all means more than it actually does.

Tonight if I'm strong enough I am going to go to the casino, drink some Heineken, play some nickle video poker, and flirt with my favorite cocktail waitresses. I'd suggest that all of you do the same.

Who, me worry? You gotta be kidding.

But I'll keep you posted.

Uncle Bill, that's great news!:) I sure the other Khuks (kooks) here will agree that we'd like our Uncle Bill around a while longer. I hope the ultrasound shows you don't need to suffer through a biopsy. Say hi to Aunt Yangdu for us and tell her to come around sometime.

Uncle Bill, your positive attitute is simply awesome. I'll heft a Heineken in your honor tonight.

drink the cheapest I can that I can stand the taste of. But, I sill spring for a couple of H's tonight. Hang in Uncle, still praying.:)

I'll have a Heineken, gamble some, but probably won't flirt with your favorite waitress. Glad to hear you're not in pain. Prayers still flying out of Miami.

Glad to see you are in good spirits about the whole mess. Keep your chin to the sun..........

5 more days of Cipro.
Tried Cipro for some infection or other last year.

Made me extremely ill. :barf:

Had to switch to another anti-biotic.

Hope you're reacting better than I.

Knew an old feller down in Florida that drove an absolute shambles of a pickup truck. Every time he bought gas for it he never bought more than two bucks worth. One day the gas station attendant asked him why he never bought more. He told the youngster to look up under the truck and examine the gas tank. "See that big rust hole?", he said, "yes sir", said the kid, "That's the two dollar mark".;)

Life's full of problems, but how they affect us is really up to us ain't it? Uncle sets a good example for us with his positive attitude and optimistic outlook. Time spent wringing hands in worry over things that we can't control is time better spent on things that we can. Hang tough Uncle Bill:cool:

I'm glad to hear the prognosis is better than I believe many of us had feared.

Keep the Kuk's coming and your kidneys in working order!

(At the risk of getting flamed, I'd be more than happy to loan you 50 lbs or so)...

Seems that my newest signature line is right on the money.

When I was in the military my drill sargeant said, "No matter what happens, don't lose your sense of humor." Glad to see you using that advice.

Also, religion is a very comforting thing, isn't it? UB, we may be of different faiths (I'm a Christian), but I think we both use religion in the same way -- to find peace.

Yes, Gym, faith, religion, belief system, whatever we might want to call it is a great crutch. 30 years ago I'd have been terrified at these turn of events but today I view it all with an almost detached amusement.

I'm going to hoist a glass of gin in your honor, Bill.
I hope both your kidneys are good enough to stay. Kick that infection, it can be a rough one. It shows how strong you are, if you can still go out and enjoy yourself with an E. coli infection. One of those put me out for a week when I was only 25. I didn't have antibiotics though. :) Just do yourself a favor and take the pill a few hours before you drink the Heineken, sometimes the beer can weaken the meds if you take them at the same time.
Salut', to you and your health.
