Fellow CRK lovers-

I just had to share my heartbreak with you folks, as I lost my favorite EDC Small Sebbie this weekend... :(

I didn't think I could get so attached to the little bugger. Damn.
Oh well, just got find a replacement asap I guess.

Thanks for letting me vent.

Well tell how this came about so perhaps we don't fall victim to the same circumstance.

The family was out to Brunch this morning at a busy Dim-Sum restaurant. My 2-1/2 year-old daughter got antsy during the long Brunch and started climbing out of her seat and onto us parents and other adults (you with little kids know what I'm talking about).

The best guess I can make is during one of her climbs, my daughter somehow "kicked" the Sebbie clip (on my Right-Front jeans pocket) and consequently the loosened knife right off onto the carpeted floor. I didn't hear or feel it fall.

Bummer. Don't let this happen to you.

And no, subsequent call and return to restaurant to the English-challenged and less-than-helpful restaurant staff did not turn up aforementioned lost Small Sebbie.

What angers me most and is the biggest crime is some schmoe picked it up and is carrying around what is unbeknownst to him/her a $300.00 CRK folder--and therefore will not treat it with the respect and reverence it deserves!!

Hate to say it, but that is why i do not Clip it to my pants IMHO the only weak area of the sebbie. It is in my G2 sheath or it is in my pants pocket, my wife has been getting me the pants with a inner pocket. I am truly sorry you lost your Sebbie i hope you replace it soon.

Sorry to hear about your misfortune. I agree with Hermie; I at least have the lanyard tied to one of my belt loops. Otherwise keep em in a sheath or deep in the pocket!

Maybe now you can get that decorated or wood Sebbie!:D I'm sure once your wife sees how depressed you are about loosing it, she won't mind the added expense.

That's the main reason I turned to you guys--sniffle, sniffle--for consolation...

Letting on to my wife how heartbroken I was because I lost a "pocket knife" (her vernacular, not mine) would simply precipitate scorn and ridicule. Furthermore, letting on how much I spent on said "pocket knife" might precipitate more scorn and ridicule, as well as a swift kick in the pants (funny, how that's the way I lost the knife in the first place). :(

Hmmm....maybe you could make a suggestion to her as to what would make you really happy for V-day...;)(Read: a donation towards a new Sebbie). I wish you speed and good fortune in finding another ASAP.

If it is any consolation, the Sebenza is so well made that whoever picked it up will be astounded by the quality of the knife they found and probably treasure it. At the very least it will get the use for which Sebenzas are designed.

That's exactly my plan!

I feel your pain.

Reckon I'd be upset too. One might look at it as though your Seb. was meant for someone else, and that your losing it was predestined.

Personally, I look at it like it just plain sucks. I'm sending you some email that might be a small consolation...

Professor.

Man, that is really bad news. My small Sebbie is my FAVORITE "pocket knife". I would cry if I ever lost mine :D . I hope that you can get another one very soon. I don't know what I would do if I were in your shoes. That is a lot of knife (money) to lose. I'm very sorry.

You know, I just don't understand the bad karma (losing the Small Sebbie).

I mean, just last month, I found a brand new Nokia 8890 (Tri-band) cell phone in the Men's Restroom at a Convention I was at. Believing in karma, I turned it into the Show Organizer's to put in the Lost & Found bin.

Well, as they say, I guess no good deed goes unpunished.

Ggrrrrr....

Though its replacement is on its way (thanks Phil @ 2thehilt.com) and my wallet thickness is not terribly damaged--I am now a bit pocket-clip-carry shy.

I am looking for 2 recommendations:

1) Who makes the best belt sheath (in leather or kydex)? How's about the CRK cordura sheather? Oddly enough, I tried the links from another "sheath" thread in this CRK Forum and neither (On Scene & River City) had pics or specific listings of a Sebbie sheath.

2) What's the closest, inexpensive (or just "less expensive"), non-CRK folder (even if its a distant second) on the market? But its got to still be a quality folder (i.e. you wouldn't be embarassed to be caught dead with it on your person should you be hit by a bus).

That really sucks Ron.:( Glad to hear it's getting replaced.:) I removed the clip from my small Sebbie and usually carry it loose in the bottom of my pocket. The CRK cordura sheath is servicable. It can be carried vetically or horizontally.
Fora less expensive blade I highly reccomend the Camillus EDC. It's not up to CRK standards, but is one hell of a knife for the money. I traded mine away...dumb move.

Ron, check out the Benchmade 705 and 770. I rotate both BM knives with my small sebbie (all 3 without clips) for EDC. The BM knives are easier to use left handed with the dual thumb studs, and the axis locks are solid. The 770 probably gets the most carry at the office because it's smaller and I like the shape of the blade for opening mail and small boxes. It doesn't raise too many eyebrows either.

1)Leather: Gary Graley, but from what I saw on the for sale forum, he's not going to be making sheaths for awhile.
2)defeats the purpose of buying another Seb, IMO:(, but if you're going to go that route, check out the Spyderco Dragonfly with SS handles (ATS-55 bladesteel). Shouldn't be much more than $30, and it's a great little knife.

Sorry for your loss, but glad to see you have another on the way.
Sheath - IMHO the only choice is one made by Gary Graley/G2.

Inexpensive knife - The Sebenza. I have not had the need to purchase another "factory" folder since I bought my first Sebenza about 1.5 years ago. With the money saved, I've purchased "custom/handmade" fixed blades.

OK, now that Gary Graley is no longer taking orders for his sheath, the question becomes:

Who else makes a quality, leather sheath for the Sebenza (small or large)?

My condolences..

I morn with you!! I carry a small unique on a daily basis. It is a little older model with the original sheath (that is how I carry it). I couldn't imagine losing it.. It is like a member of the family. I understand how attached you had become to that baby. Well, let out your pain brother. We are all listening and are here to lend a shoulder. :(

Now, get to know your new one..

If the person that has found the lost sebbie reads this message, please let us know and bring the orphan child back home to papa..
