hey all you there in tinkering land. I recently took a benchmade 42 with cast titanium handles and gave them the propane torch treatment to get some color after my attempts at electronic anodizing failed. my question is does this process weaken the integrity of the metal? i didnt quench the handles in water afterwards or speed cool the handles at all after doing this so i would think the titanium if anything might be softer than it was originally. im just wondering that now that i know i will never have a warranty on this knife did i just turn my new 42 into a safe queen? it looks awesome i just hope its not weakened by my methods.

The titanium alloys used for handles are not heat-treatable. You can heat and cool them till the cows come home; it has no effect.

What Cougar said.

I think though if it was a Ti Framelock I'd be more careful doing any heat coloring , at least near the actual lock bar but in your case with Ti handles , no problemo.
