Heat colouring titanium

I've searched and read a few posts here about this process, but didn't find any info on possible damage to the titanium.

Does anyone know if warping or other damage to titanium knife scales would occur from this process. I've seen some beautiful examples of it having been done, but don't have any experience at all doing (trying) it myself.

Am I better off finding someone to do it for me, with experience?

I can't really get my own experience as I don't have any 'spare' titanium in the garage to try it out on.

Can damage/warping affect the threaded holes in a production handle, making reassembly a problem?

Does the finish on the titanium being treated make any difference on the colour possibilities (i.e.: polished vs. bead blasted, etc...)?

Thanks for any insight or wisdom.... I'm starting blind here.

I've heat colored ti handles a few times.
Not saying it cant or wont happen but, it's never warped on me.

I do mine the 'homespun' way , clean off the heating element on my electric stove so no stains, then heat em up until the change color.
