Heat marks on Emersons

Hey guys, yesterday I picked up a stonewashed 2013 Gentleman Jim from a local store. Had bad experiences with a mini-cqc7 and figured I'd give Emerson another shot. Anyways, I noticed heat spots in some areas of the knife. A light gold on some of the serrations (slightly deformed but no big deal), to purple within the wave and lock-face. I don't care too much aesthetically as I figure it adds character, but I was curious if this would mean the HT on the knife may be faulty? Any input is appreciated, thanks guy. :)

Take a look at a temper color chart, straw color is on the harder end, and purple / blue is softer end of the scale. The whole blade may not be tempered to the same hardness

I'll do that. Yeah, the lock-face is a deep, deep blue.

I would contact Emerson.

Got a reply back within a few hours, which makes me quite pleased (love their customer service though I find their screws a bit "screwy"), and was told that the colors showing do not represent a color that would harm the treating of the blade and it may just be where the blade wasn't polished quite as well before leaving the factory. I'll take their word and just enjoy the knife, but if I find any problems I'll let everyone know. :)

Did you take it out of the box and inspect it before you bought it?
Why not just take it back and exchange it?
