heat, release...rebond???

I've got a question about epoxy. In the past, if I've had an epoxied piece that was "off" I'll heat it to release it and start over but, does anyone know if epoxy re-bonds with the same strength after it cools? I've got a knife handle all set but, one pin is off. The pin goes through the tang so I don't want an inferior bond but, I'd also hate to tear the handle apart if I can help it (I've done that enough). If I heat the handle enough to release the epoxy and quickly reset the pin/handle, would it have the same strength after cooling?

Personally, I wouldn't trust the bond after that.
Epoxy seems to get granular when it's heated to release.

What that means in terms of strength, I don't know, and that's why I'd re do it.

Right as rain! Heat, clean old stuff off,re-glue.

Thanks guys, that's what I normally do but, I figured I'd check. I definatley don't want to let something out of the shop sub-standard.
Thanks again.
