Heat treat Cryo question...

I read that SOG is fazing in models that show as Cryo Heat treated on their web site, but in the market place, how do we tell if the models are pre or post addition of the heat treat/ Cryo process.

The Tech Bowie's come to mind.

I am thinking that it would be possible to end up with a knife lacking this process that is from older inventory, that is now listed as receiving this process by Sog.

How do we tell, and how do we know ?

thanks

I think SOG customer service service could answer that. The cryo heat treat on my team elite does seem to give the edge a little more durability compared to the other AUS8 knife I have owned.

All the stained slices of good cryo treatment steels I have seen, did create a much more uniform integrated (homogeneous ?) grain structure....generally a very good improvement and one which I would certainly prefer.

Problem is, we often order our knives in....so this creates a problem in determining what's been cryo treated. If it's on the blade, then someone has to look at it personally and tell you ? If it's not on the blade....then what. Or if it's marked on the box.....that would certainly help, but in some cases, that's just not going to happen given the way we order.

I will try customer service....but I can't see a good possible way to know and it creates a ordering problem for sure, if you want to make sure you get SOG knives treated as such... Which is a shame.

It may be possible that a particular model has always received the treatment they just started recently marketing it.
