Heat treat on the 561

Same here chop, mine was shipped today, so hopefully I will have it in my hands Wednesday. Very excited about this knife, everything I hear is high praise.
 
I finally broke down and sharpened my 0561 the night before last. I had been carving up some wood and cardboard, and it wasn't dull, I just wanted to get in and see how the Elmax was to deal with.

I was surprised to see that it was a dream to sharpen. I broke out the Extra Coarse Diamon, Coarse Diamond, and then switched to oil stones.

Damn, it turned out sharp. Done a little stropping with some crystalon powder and some jeweler's rouge to finish it up.

Scary Larry sharp, lemme tell ya.

At first, I was concerned that it would be like hitting that S30V, but alas, it was not. Very easy to maintain.

thats good to know. Ive been debating throwing mine on the apex. I may wait until it really needs it.

I get antsy. I like to sharpen them up, make that bevel match perfect. Slightly polished with some tooth to it.

Nothing like that first swipe of hair after it comes off the strop. Never fails to get a "Damn, that's sharp" from me.
