It was time to start fabricating a new oven after another failed kanthal coil, constantly pushing in the pin clips that hold the elements to the bricks and just making the last one a bit too small. It did its job for the last 6 years but this build is long overdue.
I had a few things in mind while drawing this one up..
1- Hang the coils from the top where they are completely out of the way.
I based this off of JT's oven build and it just makes sense.(Thanks JT!)
2- There is not much room on the bench so I needed to make this as compact as I could.
No more door swinging to the side and I didn't want a drop down door because all the people that say they burn their gloves when loading/unloading.
This door took some tinkering but Im surly glad I took the time to do it. It is mounted only on the one side because I knew it would interfere with the coil leg. Its a lil beefy but there is no slop in it.
No control box on the side of this one either, by putting all the controls in a tray on the bottom allows me to keep this as narrow as possible. It also raises the oven up off the bench to where you have a better site window of the chamber.
The chamber is 5-1/2" x 5-1/2" x 22-1/2" with 3" 2300 firebricks.
