I searched around and didn't see an answer so I'll be quick.
I had my last batch of blades heat treated and tempered at a local heat treat shop. I had 10 1095 blades and 6 80CRV2 . All came out fine got a little tiny warp in 2 of the 1095 blades . Easil;y fixed thanks to all your help.
Question is They used a salt bath as they wanted to hang the blades vert. to minimize warpage. Does this sound right. or commonly done? lastly what should my finished HRC be .....for a field/Combat knife/
Thanks Jerry

Salt baths are a great way to HT, and I'd shoot for right around 60, maybe a touch lower... No lower than say 58 HRC

Salt baths allow for very stable temps and very little if any decarb. Did they test the hardness for you?

Those results seem a bit weird, i would have expected the 1095 to be harder than the 80crv2?
That seems reasonable for field knives
