I am finally ready to send the caduceus blade off for heat treatment. I have a nagging concern because this blade is carved through, and has a small "pole" structure in the middle that might constitue a weak spot.
Should I be concerned about the heat treatment? Bear in mind, this was obviously a stock removal project with the vast majority of the work being done by band saw, drill press and hand files. I don't think I have introduced much stress into the metal, but I cannot speak for how much was in there when I started.
Should I be concerned about the heat treatment? So far, Peters has done great work but this is the first carved through project I've attempted, so I'm a bit more concerned than I would be otherwise.
