Usually steel heat treated by Paul Bos outperform same steel from any other makers. Especially ATS-34. I have all knives I made myself heat treated by Paul Boss and they have perfect steel. This one is ATS-34:

I highly recommend Paul Bos, it is also very easy to deal with him.

To my understanding many custom knifemakers also using his heat treatment service.

However his Heat Treatment shop seems to continue to work with Paul Farner in charge, who was trained by Bos for 10 years.
