To get the best out of the steel, you need a heat treat oven, stainless foil wrap, quench plates, and a dry ice slurry or liquid nitrogen for the cold treatment. Stainless steel’s require consistent high temperatures and a soak time to be properly heat treated.

Some people say you can’t heat treat stainless if all you have is a forge but it’s not true. Here’s my recommended process:
1) Send the steel blank to a heat treater who uses furnaces
2) Receive the heat treated steel in the mail
