heat treating EN45 / carbon steel damascus

hello,
got a little raindrop damascus bar from india cheap, to play with. they say it is en45 and carbon steel. im not sure of the best method to treat and temper it. i was thinking 1550 deg. and oil quench. any advice or help will be appreciated and most likely used.

If you do not have a close analysis of the bar then it is only a guess. No idea what EN45 is possibly .45 carbon steel. i would stay in the lower 1500F range. Try a slow oil first then if that does not work try a faster oil then brine or water.
