What would be the best way to heat treat carbide end mills? Is it possible, or will ir ruin them? Thanks! Michael

it will probably ruin them, they're already approx. 92rc, so i don't see a reason for heat treating them.

I have never heard of carbide being heat treatable. Each particle in carbide is already hardened in the "as supplied condition" to Rc 75-80 depending on the type of carbide. There is no available carbon in carbide , so therefore it can't harden.

I believe the other 2 answers to your question are correct, but for excellent help and advie about heat treating in general, try:

they have several forums where you can as questions and get good answers.
