I would like to HT some folder pivots which are commonly machined of stainless steel. What would be proper HT?

mete what would be a good steel for making your own pivots and stop pins and how hard should they be made
butch

YOu can buy precision 440C rod pretty cheap. Air-hardening... what more would a guy ask for besides wild women, and lots of beer? :D

What??? You planning on coming down to New Bedford????
PS: I see when Kits away the mice will play. Shame on you guys.

Aside from beer guzzlin asian twin women....the pivots I am thinking of are those commonly sold by the knife supply people..Jantz, Sheffield, etc. What particular stainless would this be as their catalogues do not specify? thanks

Most likely non hardenable stainless or 416 which will harden a little.

But lets stay focused, back to the wild women :p
