Hey there,
Could anyone refer me to a reputable company that offers heat treating services for O1 steel?

Thanks.

Thanks Paul, I hear you're quite an authority as well. I'll get in touch with Mr. Rados.

zombiehunter,

When I noticed your thread, I was going to suggest Paul Bos myself, and now I see HIS post suggesting someone other than him, to take care of your heat-treating needs. From what I've read, Paul Bos is the BEST when it comes to heat-treating, so I'd guess that he is VERY busy, and probably completely "booked-up" for "awhile".

It never ceases to amaze me of the quality people that we have here as members of BladeForums!.:).

Ive used Paul for heat treating for roughly the last 9 years. Always been very happy with the results. Anytime I have a question, he has been more than happy to answer it. I was very happy to finally meet him at the Blade show this past May. Thanks Paul -- Charles

Zombiehunter: The reason I gave you Jerrys info cause he dose a great job on Oil hardining steels. At this time I am not doing oil hardining steels. Would be happy to do any of your Air hardining and stainless steels.Paul.

Paul, was wondering if i could ask you some questions on heattreating ats-34, i like to do my own heattreat as i like to hands on type thing,so my qustions are -

1 - what should the rockwell be when first taken out of the furnace?

2 - i use a hydrogen furnace at a temp of 1950deg.F for 45 min. ,
i use liquid nitrogen so how long should i soak the blade for and
about how much should i gain on the rockwell?

3 - can you give my some sort of formula to go by for my to gain
more confidence on my heattreating?

thank you,
Stan McFall (mcfly)
