Hi All,

Who or what is a good person or company for a small time beginning knife maker like myself to send blades for heat treating?

Thanks fot the help,

Eric

I have been sending a few blades to Texas Knfemaking Supply. They do a pretty good job and the blades are done and shipped back out fairly fast. If you get them there by monday they will be shipped back out the next monday most of the time. Cost was $4-5 a blade. I am going to start sending some to SunCoast in Florida. I believe they should be cheaper if I can send a good many at one time. Don't hold me to it but I think their price was $55 per lot. I think they consider a "lot" to be around 35 Lbs. Problem is if you send them one blade it's $55 as well. Some of the makers here pool their blades to reduce the cost. Their number 813-870-1510. Texas's number is 888-461-8632.
Good luck and I hope I've helped somewhat.
Take care,
Robert

Paul Bos is considered one of the best of all time. Over 35 years in the business he knows what he is doing. Sorry I dont have his # here in the house.

Texas Knifemakers would be OK if you only have blade or two but as Bruce stated, Paul Bos is THE heat treater. Besides, sending them to Mr. Bos would be more economical. He can be reached at (619)562-2370
