Heat Treatment?

I have used my Vietnam Tomahawk soo much I have worn out the old black finish.About 50 % was gone so I decided to re-do it myself.I painted it with some black spray paint and used a torch to harden the paint. My question is could I have messed with the heat treatment by heating the metal? I was dumb enough no not think of this before I did it.

Thanks

I doubt it...if you had brought the blade up to a temp high enough to mess up the heat-treat, I believe you'd have burned the paint off.

Nope...you're good. You have to go to at least our hardening temperature of 1,900 F to distort the matrix from our initial heat treat, so you're OK. ;) Just don't try torch hardening the handle! :D

Hehe Andy, I am on my 5th handle now , just put it on the day before Yesterday , kind of ironic I do use the torch on the handle.I am forced to buy handles from Home Depot and I use the torch to turn them a darker color. How can I order the OD handles from you?

Thanks

Nuke!

We have an abundance of hickory handles and wedges...call Suzanne tomorrow and we will square you away.
