i am new to blade making and in the process of finishing my first blade. The forging was a little slow, but i'm very happy with my results. Ended up doing two quenches. The first was not as hard as i hoped but the second was good and the file skated good. I tempered in a toaster oven (my wife would have killed me if i used our oven) @ 400-425 for two hours and two cycles. The blade doesn't seem as hard as it was before the temper. I am just unsure if i lost to much of the hardness during that process. Any wisdom would be greatly appreciated.
