It is 6AM and the cooling fan is running in the greenhouse. It has been in the mid 90's pretty much every day for a while now. We have had a few brief thunderstorms, but little other rain. It will be near 100 every day for the next week.

I hope we get some of that heat, as summer has run out of steam in recent weeks. The wood furnace was running a couple of days last week. Days start out sunny, but by noon clouds roll in and cool damp afternoons have been the norm. We were down to close to the freezing mark on a couple of mornings a week and a half ago.

We had 3 or 4 awful summers in a row now, last year I had to make fires through the entire month of july, and my garden was a failier 3 years in a row. Garden is growing, but it has slowed down alot Since the start of the month.

All the heat seems to ride below the Canadian border, and whenever it does move in here, it's stay is temporary. It is like filling the sink without the drain stopper in, the heat moves in, but it gets drained by cold air masses sinking down from Hudson Bay, and by the blocking effect of Lake Superior. As a result, very little beach weather and no need for airconditioning, but we need furnaces instead. This is not typical weather for us, as we used to get full summers from June to early September.

Stacy, I'll trade you some of the heat for our cool damp stuff.

101 today, 100 tomorrow, 99 Sunday. Looks like it will cool down to the low 90's on Monday.

I'll be on my scooter cruising along the Delaware, enjoying that cool breeze of the wind in my face.

Sam were you cruising during the thunder/lightning/rain/tornado warning ?? Well today it will be into the 90s to make up for that .

104F as I type this. This is the official temp at the airport. In my forge area it is 106F. I am not going to do any forging today, that is for sure.

9Am here and it feels like a real summer day is on the way. Forecast for the whole week looks warmer with the two good ones coming. Shutting down the shop and the firewood effort, and will take a time out to enjoy the summer warmth. We have had very little summer weather so far.

Look at the bright side. You may not need the forge to heat the steel. Just get it in direct sun.
