I got a Camillus Heat for my b-day on tuesday. It's GREAT.

The ONLY thing I dont like is how much force you need to get it open. Is there a way to loosen it so that it opens easier?

Short, sweet, and to the point....the way I like it :D

Hey, AbsoluteZzZero,
21 June? - that's my b-day too :) Congratulations!
And last year I got the Heat for my b-day :)
On your question - the easiest way to do this is to remove the assisted openning spring bar :)
I've used this knife as edc for the last 12 months. I converted it to manual almost right after receipt. Recently I put the spring bar back... used the knife for a couple of weeks... didn't like it :( Now I'm going to convert it back to manual.
On the other hand, you'll get used to this (I mean the force you need to apply to open the knife) if you leave the assisted openning feature.

Thats pretty strange.....it'd be even stranger if you turned 15 when you got the heat......

Will the spring loosen up with use, or does it stay the same?

I think I'm going to leave it for now. If I get really tired of it I'll take it off.....

I did not like the AO at first... it is not designed to be used with the thumbstuds... use the guard on the back of the knife to "flip" the blade open. It was different for me at first but now second nature. I would not want it to open easier after I found out how to deploy it correctly. I edc one most days and BEAT on it regulary...

One thought, check for a over-tightened pivot screw. With the blade opened, disengage the lock bar and see how easily the blade swings. Mine are just tight enough not to allow side play on the blade. *just a thought. Walter *this series of knives take a good amount of force to swing the blade out, not a bad thing for unwanted openings inside pockets. They may, over time, get easier. As the out saying goes "anything that moves will someday wear out"
