My heat arrived today. Nice knife for the money! I like the thumb studs and flipper but i think i would have preferred this knife style without the assisted opening. Which i view more of a novelty than anything else and it's just something else to break. A knife with a flipper can be opened as fast as the assisted openers including my Kershaws and there is no springs to break and no worries of entering liberal territories and getting arrested for being a law abiding citizen who thinks he is free to carry a knife of choice or pistol for that matter anywhere in this country!

You can take out the spring fairly easy...there is another tread with pics .....

   was that really necessary?

But anyway. Here's a thread in which I showed a few pictures of the spring and the inside of the knife... if you're so scared one of us liberals is going to arrest you.

Simple little modification, takes about fifteen minutes. Be careful with the washers though. One little word of advice too, get a better torx driver than the one they provided with the knife. It's a well made driver and all that jazz, but hard to use (I had to put the driver in the screw and spin the knife... that was irritating).

Make sure you have some Loctite on hand too because you'll need it. Once the factory Loctite seal is broken, the pivot likes to loosen itself.

It's a great knife in either configuration.

You will be surprised, but here in canada, a knife that flicks open is illegal, but a AO is legal.

So if I take out the spring, my heat becomes illegal.

Don't try to understand :P

I didn't see the Canada part. Sorry for jumping to conclusions, but all this "all liberals are anti-knife" just starts getting on my nerves.

Have fun with the knife tinkerin'. I was amazed at how dirty mine was inside the first time I opened it up. Give everything a good cleaning too once you get it open.

The last time I took it apart, I got some very hot water and dropped all the metal parts in it for a while to get all the crap cleaned off then dried everything with compressed air (the heat from the hot water helps everything dry faster). Then a little lube at the pivot and it'll open as fast and smooth manually as it will with the spring.

Im not from canada. I live in the good ol USA and the south too so there really is no worries of me getting arrested here. I just threw the liberal part in for those who go to liberally controlled states counties or cities. You cannot deny that these areas are governed by people who fear their citizens. Knives and guns have no heart or soul and cannot commit murder or inflict bodily injury to anyone without a force of evil behind it and this evil or criminal should be put to rest in the ground instead of telling law abiding citizens that if they carry a firearm or even a knife that opens by an assisted mechanism or one with a blade four inches long that it will make you commit a crime is just insane! Fear the government that fears it's citizens! I never leave my house without a pistol and a good knife on my belt and i dont always do so because i feel threatened. I just excersise my constitutional freedoms and am very proud to be a free american! Psychopomp Dont take my opinions as a personal attack on you either because it's not. Just because i am from the south doesnt mean that i dont have liberal friends because i do and if not for them i would never get to let the hot air out. We spend many pleasurable afternoons arguing our opinions. P.S. thanks for the thread link.
