I just purchased some kydex, made a pretty nice press and bought all the stuff, so here's the question in the packing material for my kydex, I got a sheet with some tips and one interesting tip said to heat the kydex in boiling water?? Anybody try this and also which method does everybody prefer??????
Thanks guys, I'm lookin forward to this kydex stuff.........

Heat in toaster oven at 325 to 350 for 5 to 10 minutes (depending on thickness).

I use the heavily scientific method of heating with my heat gun until it's floppy enough for my liking....

toaster over works very well I heard. I'am thinking about makeing a press and saw a toaster over at a yard sale for $5.

way too long cooking that kydex...

I set my oven to 300 degress F for 3 minutes.
I use quite a bit of .093 and it doesn't seem to heat through all the way without the time oven. I usually pre-heat the oven to 325 and try it at 5 min, but I've had a number of sheets that required 7 or 8 to really mold well.

Hey Guys...

Toaster Ovens are for melting Cheese..

Heat guns are for Plastic...

You'll Never get consistent with a toaster oven.

You hit the nail on the head man. Even though I just started this stuff I purchased a heat gun from Harbor Freight for about 17.00 and have had excellent results with this thing compared to the oven method:thumbup:

i use a toaster oven AND a heat gun (for detailing small areas).

TekSec - wow, that's something. i've never used anything bigger than .080, i had no idea. 5-10 seemed high to me too.
