This piece started its life as a mere Tramontina two-handed Cane machete--until I got my hands on it. See THIS THREAD to see most of the process, including "before" pics.

Tah-dah!

This thing really shines now. The point is functional, sitting about a half-inch forward of the top of the hook. The hook itself had been opened up slightly to a more usable angle. The crotch between the two is useful for pushing brush around or out of the way. Both the hook and the primary edge have been brought to working sharpness with a slight convex applied. The primary edge itself has been brought further down towards the base of the blade for precise chopping. The entire blade has been coated with several coats of Slip-Plate friction-reducing coating. The handle has been reprofiled, sanded, and oiled, and displays a beautiful curly grain. The handle has been flushed with the tang wherever it was appropriate to do so.

You can see the reshaped handle contours here--it's now actually comfortable to choke up on, while still being useful two-handed if need be.

This is one broad blade!

A choked-up forward grip:

Extended forward grip--this is also useful when using the hook to remove thorny plants from your path. A quick tug backward and up and the plant is cut near the base without you having to bend over. Works great!

Extended reverse grip--great for removing small branches blocking your path.

Coming right at ya'! Kind of makes you sympathize with the tree a little, doesn't it?

Asking $40 plus actual shipping price. I'll ship international (I shipped my last tricked-out machete to Australia) but I take no responsibility if you run afoul of local laws. PayPal fees on on me, so the price is exactly what it says it is--no hidden costs.
