Heavy Dutiness? Emerson CQC-15 vs. Benchmade Adamas

I own a Benchmade Adamas and really enjoy it in terms of it's heavy duty usability. However, I have always been drawn to the style of the Emerson CQC-15. When comparing the specs between these two knives, the Adamas is clearly the beefier knife. I really would like to buy a CQC-15 but I cant justify (or afford) keeping both. So, is the "heavydutiness of the CQC-15 comparable to the Adamas or is it a definite step down? I live in Michigan and have no idea where I could find a store that carries an Emerson CQC-15 so I could do the comparison myself.

Has anyone possibly owned both of these knives?

i owned both a few months ago. its honestly preference. the adamas was a little thick in my pocket. but the action was smooth and to me a good edc for my job and chores. its a knife i can open...use....then close safe and quickly.

the cqc-15 was a nice blade shape but it really wasnt any more useful for my uses. the pointy tip was nice but i never found the adamas to not get the job done the same. the emerson is nice but its alot of money for what it is. g10,154cm,thin ti liners. it is not smooth, the heat treat is a little soft and the grind is chisel ground.

to sum up my random thoughts i could probably recommend just keeping the adamas. its smooth, fast to open and close, the d2 heat treat is great and takes a really nice edge. the finishing was alot nicer than the emerson. it was a way better price too. the only negative the adamas had with me was that the handle was a little thick for the pants i wear. so i sold it and got a 810.

Both have locking mechanisms that WILL NOT FAIL unless you intentionally abuse the mechanism.

Both use proven steels that can take a hell of a lot of abuse before failure. Ergonomics are fantastic on both, with the Emerson getting the nod (grippy G10).

Impressions from other people are useful, but those impressions are still limited to that one particular persons view.... the best advise it to save up, buy one for YOURSELF, see if you like it..... if not, sell it in the Exchange here at a very minimal loss.

Like it? Put it in your pocket, use it long enough that you trust your life to it, and move onto the next knife. :)

I assumed I would have to go this route. But if I also bought the CQC-15, I know I would end up keeping both.

Does anyone know of a knife store in or near Michigan that sells Emersons.
