Lets hear from everybody on there favorite heavy duty 4" fixed blades. If you have a story to tell about your favorite, please share.

My favorite is my CRK Sable III. I don't have any dragon-slayer stories, but it gets a lot of good kitchen use. I keep it on my kitchen table.

It's a light and sharp knife with an extremely comfortable and controlled grip. The sheath can snap on or off a belt without having to unbuckle. Very handy worn tucked into a back pocket.

my 2 favorites are a CRK Shadow III (without top guard) and my Swamp Rat Bandicoot.
Shadow III because it's very nice, strong and sharp. (the knife is sooooo nice)
and My Bandicoot because it's sharp, compact, MEGA strong and cheap.
They both conceal very well.

All my users are sub 4". The CRK Mountaineer I has had my eye for some time now.

That will have to be my SwampRat Bandicoot. Actually it's 4,5" to be exact!:D
Extremely tough, sharp (especially after Jan P worked a bit of magic on it!) and comfortable.
Might change once I get my Busse Desert Anorexic Badger, though!:D

The Camillus CQB2 is my favorite. Very light and very ergonomic. Cons: Bead blasted blade. I fixed that by giving it a satin finish. I think this model has been dicontinued.

Shadow III here also. In second place are my Vangards in BG42 and ATS34.

My favorite is my Bark River Gameskeeper. Nice handle, convex grind rocks, razor sharp knife. It just works for me. They have a Forager version with a hidden tang and no visible handle rivits that looks nice for cold days, gotta get one when they come out. :)

I don't have any yet, but I also like the Blackjack Trail Guide II and the Buck Vanguard (with the rubber handle). Those look real nice and usable. I like the idea of a BG-42 Vanguard!

The ONLYreason the Military doesn't get my vote is it's tendency to bend in the middle. ;)

My most used FB is an 154CM Camillus Talon. it is so comfortable to use, the balance is perfect and the flat grind goes through anything. I carry it in a Kenny Rowe pouch sheath that the fiddleback maple models come with.

I'm with Fudo. And I'm biased. It may not be a "looker", but the Temperance FB was specifically designed to cut fiercely and stay in the hand in any position. The VG-10 blade will get very sharp. The double distal taper on the full flat grind is very efficient.

My 4&7/8" Yari is a super knife. A complete and unabashed user. It has zero shortcomings. My perfect knife.

Another vote for the F-1.

The Entrek Badger also meets your specs (3/16 thick; 3.38" long; 440C at Rc 57-58; around $80.00)
