Once ya have a decent split started you can follow it down with a wooden wedge !

Some bits were too big for my Chopweiler so I had to use my axes and a wedge !

God I have to get out with my Chopweiler. It's been sitting in the cupboard for a month now and its feeling lonely.

Looks like fun. Thinking about picking up a GB min hatchet today. Been waiting for a while to get it. Today may be the day. Can't wait to start using it.

Pit, it was your glowing reviews of the Chopweiler that sent me searching for one. I picked one up about a year and a half ago and haven't regret it yet. It has been used for just about everything and even my fiance has said it was the MVP on our last few backpacking trips. Thanks!

That's great to hear buddy, glad it's working out well for you.
The great thing about Swamprat knives is that if you find you don't like em you can sell them on for virtually what you bought them for.

Thats some pretty sweet knife use!

Have you (anyone?) done any cold-weather use with one of these baby's? Reason i'm asking is about the *exposed* metal tang possibly getting frosty?

I use mine all through winter but wear gloves !

Advance whittling class is now in session.:thumbup:

Great pics pit, thanks for sharing.

Thx pit - i've seen this pic before..... Yea, gloves/mitts would be the order of the day - ya don't wanna get any splinters from the baton!!! ;-)

Don't you know that battoning will break your knife and is frowned upon by all axe wielding mountain men?! What have you done Pit! :D

Interesting,I don't use it to often as it's considerably shorter than my khukuris. Maybe I should give it a chance.

WOW!that is one mean looking blade. Just search and read up on it and it seems like a real winner, just curios but what steel was used in these? I know Busse, Swamrat and Scrapyard are very similar and always get confused.

SR101 I think.
