I used to hear the word "shugyo" used in my martial arts classes. It basically translated as "unavoidable, necessary hard work needed to produce progress." This knife was designed to be overbuilt from the ground up. The hollowgrind is inspired by Jerry Hossum's method of pulling the hollow up higher than usual and leading into a convex edge. It allows the blade to cut unexpectedly well for a thick-spined hollowground piece. Thanks for looking and all comments welcome and appreciated. Jason.

The knife.

First testing pics. Future pics will include splitting a log and being hammered along the spine to chop pieces of hardwood.
