I loved the thread about which folders Busse fans carry/have. It was great to compare. The Strider/Busse match seemed to be fairly predominate. My question to you is this. Is there a stiletto out there that is up to the toughness standard we Busse fans have. I have some microtech's but I'll be honest, other than looking at them, I dont have much confidence that they will hold up to any abuse (let alone the serious abuse you folks put on your knives)

If any exist, I would love to know (and see pics if possible)

Thanks

never carried a stilleto/slim folder, but the skeleton key is just beggin to be made into one... I can already see the design: put the hinge point in the space between the talon hole and the first skeletonization pocket, leaving the full pocket so that when you close it it extends outward like a lanyard ring. You'd increase the length of the handle when closed, but you'd increase the strength of it opened by adding more metal in between the scales...

I just drew that out on paper and it makes absolutely no sense at all o_0

Yes, the Busse Old School Custom Integral Dagger.

Not a folder but is a stiletto , "A small dagger with a slender, (for a Busse) tapering blade."
As to folders, probably none out there that will withstand the abuse that a small Busse fixed blade will laugh at, but some nice ones that I have are Strider's SNG and SMF, a small Sebenza and I have one 3" XM-18 black flipper with another on the way.

Since you mentioned Microtech I am assuming (maybe incorrectly) that you are asking specifically about automatic/OTF knives. If so, I'd say Microtech is about the toughest I've ever had/handled. With that said, I would never rely on any OTF blade to be tough/strong/reliable.

My first expensive knife was a microtech halo II, after carrying it for about 3 months, it stopped locking the blade. It was covered under warranty.. problem is, i'm a civilian and there are all those wacky laws about auto knives, so I was stuck with a broken knife. Eventually fixed it and sold it. They sure are fun to open though, I probably opened it a few too many times.

Busse nuclear Ice pick is exactly what you are looking for.

Severtech makes some tough knives but I'm not knowledgeable about them.

If you want a stilleto profile on a tough folding knife, get yourself a balisong like the Benchmade 46. There IS no stronger locking mechanism on any folder than the design of the balisong.

+1

From folder to fixed blade in a whirl.
