Heavy Hearts for NASA? Why?

It's been mentioned that the Heavy Hearts without the Busse logo are sterile NASA models.

Now here is my question: Why does NASA need Heavy Hearts? Why do they even need knives? I'm confused

they don't. What happens is this. Someone at NASA is a knife Fanatic, they are a sub-Gov Agency, so this dude decides that he wants to get a freebie. He tells all his buddies about these knives and they all agree. They disguise under a moniker as such, "Tactical Safety Escape Tool" . In the Government, anytime you put Safety in a PO line, it will not be argued as safety is a free pass to a purchase. I have seen it a million times.

You could call it a Dingleberry Safety Removal Tool (SDT - Because the Gov likes acronyms) and it would get through.

Trust me, no one at NASA needs this.

Then you have the poor Jackass in the field trudging through Tick infested woods crawling over downed trees, who could use a blade, and they get nothing or issued a POS.:jerkit:

Moon rocks my friend. . . . It's all about the moon rocks!!!!!   :D

Thanks Jerry, now I understand how the astronauts get their samples to bring back to earth. All makes perfect sense. I suppose they could also be used against alien attacks for self-defense. :D

It’s got nothing to do with taking samples of moon rocks: they just want to be the first people to smack the snot out of things with INFI on another celestial body.

Alright guys, don't be dogging my NASA brethren too bad  . When most people think of NASA they think of Astronauts and Space Shuttles. Very few people realize that we develop quite of bit of sensitive technology, which in the wrong hands can be, well you get the idea. We have SWAT teams, bomb squads, and sniper teams at NASA. Yes, at NASA. When a bank moves five million dollars, you better believe that there is armed security. Now multiple that value by a hundred and you have a normal logistics movement for NASA.

We are safety freaks yes, but also I don't mind having my HD as a backup if you know what I mean.

So lets play nice, cause if it weren't for us everyone would just have leather pants for their knives. :) I'm sure Dwayne wouldn't mind. :D

i believe they use the knives to cut the ropes holding the rockets down,

also the fuse lighters have to have knives to cut the burning fuse in case of an aborted lift off.

at least that's what one of the generals told me.

also while in on this thread...

if Sigourney Weaver had a heavy heart she would have made sushi out of that overgrown mantis that was trying to jump her bones.

i still remember her in those white space panties fighting that slobbering woman eater!!

I remember wondering the same thing when I saw the Randall astro. I think it's so that when your shuttle falls down and goes boom in some kind of hostile environment (siberia, disneyland etc...) you have some form of survival tool available. If you survive. At least that was the theory behind the astro's.

I own both. The Astro (Safe Queen) is interesting but frankly ackward. The tiny handle IMHO makes it an impractical a design for the very survival chores it was designed for. I realize that you can store fishing line and a hook inside it but that's about it. I guess weight was really a factor and they cut it down as much as they could. I doubt a rocket could've even get off the pad though with three HH's on board. :D
