Why is my manix 2 so heavy? I was in Columbus today, so I stopped by Rivers Edge Cutlery. They had a few blurple models including the manix 2. I have used a manix 2 as one of my work knives for years. Originally it was a saber ground S30V but I swapped in a flat ground M4 blade on my old handle. Immediately I noticed how much lighter the blurple model was. Looking closer I noticed the blurple liners are skeletonized. I mentioned the weight difference to the employee. He took out a ffg S30V manix2 and held them both and agreed the liners made a big difference. I picked up the ffg S30V to feel it's heft. This is where it got weird. The ffg S30V model was lighter than I expected. I looked closer and the liners are not skeletonized. I went out to my truck and grabbed my ffg m4 manix to compare the weight with their ffg S30V manix. There is an obvious, noticeable weight difference. Employee agreed.
Why? Both have solid liners and ffg blades. Where is the weight difference coming from? Did they change the liner material? Just curious.

Burples have skeletonized liners.

I am aware of that and stated it in OP.
I am wondering why my FFG M4 manix2 with solid liners is heavier than the FFG S30V manix2 with solid liners I compared it with.

Wow I thought River's Edge closed.

I need to stop in there some time. Went in there when I was a teenager and then apparently forgot where they were. Cool place.

the manix 2/M4 can't be that much heavier than the standard S30V/G10 version!with solid liners, about 5.2 oz and other sprint runs with drilled out liners to include the new S110V/G10 blurple is only about 1oz lighter, whats hard for me to understand is the manix 2/XL is 5.2 oz as well! go figure.
