HEAVY metal... but what sheath?

Hi folks,

Currently my favourite Busse is my Heavy Heart Fusion Steel Heart. I've got one of the original black magnum canvas on black blade combos. I love it. Quite possibly perfect balance, speed, weight and looks. It's also indestructible. Recently I found a Heavy Duty on the Exchange. I love the AD and variants and this HD was in a black/black canvas combo. Perfect accompaniment to my HHFSH. I bought it from Jared at Paw Paw's Knife Shop, who is a member on here (Invinoveritas1911). I wanted to post pics up of this new knife and combo but I also wanted to show you just how good Jarad's service was. I considered the knife to be very well priced and he sent it asap. This is how it was delivered:

It was expertly wrapped and bound. It even had a wax seal. How cool is that?! He certainly went the extra step to impress.

Here's the HD:

And with it's big brother:

Pretty much the perfect hard use pair. Which brings me to my question - where to get a sheath. I want taco style black kydex for the HHFSH. It needs to have a black leather belt loop for a drop leg carry. I'm thinking about a fold-over kydex sheath for the HD too, that could be horizontally belt carried and piggybacked to the HH if I wanted.

Often I send my knives to Martin Swinkels for these types of sheaths. He's got a long delay though and I don't feel like sending these off. Can anyone suggest who might be able to do the above sheath without the knives? Thanks Hogs.

Chris.

can't help with the sheath, but I just wanted to say this:

Beautiful knives and a perfect combination that will tackle anything you can throw it at!

My choice would definitely be a piggyback style sheath for those.

Nice pair you've got there, man. A piggyback leather/kydex hybrid sheath would be perfect.

I recommend Rainwalker, as he is a master with both Kydex and Leather. I'm sure he has a design that is exactly what you are looking for and if not, he is very creative. I have a leather sheath and several Kydex sheaths made by him and they are all top notch.

Also, I've seen that Azwelke, another master Kydex sheathmaker, has been making leather drop loops for his Kydex sheaths. I am sure that they are very well made and would like to get one myself. I'm sure h make you a sweet piggyback.

Best of luck. I can't wait to see the finished product.

That is a great pair. I would find a very sturdy belt or maybe a horse to haul those porkers around.

Let me get this straight. You bought a knife from a kydex sheath maker then you want to know who to get a kydex sheath from?

No doubt! I with you bro...the HH is also a fav of mine. Saber ground Steel Heart....how can you go wrong. Good luck with you hunt for a sheath.

Dave Brown (Buy Brown Kydex) does tacos and is very creative.

Eric of Mashed Cat Kydex I believe is also doing tacos.

Hi

Great looking knives but I would need them sent in to make some sheaths for you.
Thank you to those who recommended me.

Thanks for the comments on the knives and suggestions for sheath makers. I've sent emails off to all those mentioned here. I have sheaths from each of them and they're all excellent quality. We'll see what I can come up with.

Yep. If you read my first post 6 or 7 more times you'd have finally understood it and wouldn't have had to embarrass yourself by asking here.

Chris.

Did I really embarrass myself? I guess I really am that stupid. I HAVE read it a few times and I guess I'm just missing something. Does he not have both of those knives to make a sheath with? I didn't see that written anywhere. Maybe he doesn't work with leather and since you want the leather drop loop it's a no go? Maybe you typed something in highlighter yellow so people can only see it if they look super close and at an angle? Who knows. Maybe you will quote the part that I am selectively not seeing.

Rob, that Azwelke sheath is a cracker. Pretty much exactly the style I'm looking for. He doesn't have the HHFSH or HD in stock to use as a mould, which means I have to post them over to him. I get nervous every time my Busse's get posted but I'll get in touch with him again and see what his turnaround times are like. What's the retention like on that one? I have some of Azwelke's work. It's top notch but I've had to relieve the kydex around the slabs to get the knives to come out more easily, as it's been super tight. Thanks for the post mate.

JSMcustoms, I haven't got any of Skystorms stuff. I'll check it out. Thanks for the info. That's what I was looking for.

al g blenny, why are you even posting?

Chris.

It's quite tight. But not too tight. That said, I haven't worn it and tried to pull the knife out of the sheath. I'm not sure it'll give me a wedgie, but it may require a little combination of pushing with my thumb and a sharp pull to let it go.

Christ. You can't help yourself. I was looking for suggestions on makers that do leather/kydex, that I wouldn't have to send my knives overseas to. For one or more reasons you were not able to understand that from my post. Seems everyone else did. You read it a bunch more times and still didn't get it. Sorry mate.

You weren't joking either. The nature of your first and second posts confirms that. You're a smartarse. Your third post confirms that.

I often see a (very) small minority of members on here come out with arrogant or condescending remarks to others. Not much is said because they have some sort of fabled "hog" status or they're just accepted as foolish members. I think you're the latter. One or two of the solid members on here have suggested some good info, even supplying pics. This thread has achieved its purpose. I am thankful to them.

You strike me as the type to always have the last say too. Prove me wrong and don't reply here...

Chris.

Chris,

Check on ABF, there is a new (relatively) leather bender from QLD, you might find a leather set up that would suit you.

Oh, and Leatherman has done some hybrid kydex-leather sheaths as well.

Seeing that nice mint Heavy Duty makes me remember when mine was that pretty. :) Now its dinged up and much abused.

Thanks for posting that pretty thing! :D I hope you find what your looking for.

New INFI is always a reason to celebrate, and a Heavy Duty with a Heavy Heart is double the reason! :D
