its going to take a poundinig so it has to be strong pin,screw, or weld if possable what would be best i need a clue btw im thinking it will be like 1/4 inch thick makeshift hammer if need be

Sounds like mild steel would be the ticket. You could either thread the tang through the pommel or peen it over the pommel. I don't know how you'd weld it with handle material in place.

You can weld it or braze it on and fit the handle afterward -like on an integral. Steel at least 3/8" would be a good idea.The word is POMMEL.
