With the HEAVY rains we had the last two weeks, I had plenty of time to be in the garage messing around. I am by no means a knifemaker, just a hobby guy when it comes to knives. My son got a new bed so I had some bed frame steel to mess around with, some maple & brass pins on the bench, so I got to work. Heat treated on my ghetto cinder block forge, tempered in the wifes toaster oven, filed, sanded & sharpened. Now the kids have knives to go with their fire steels I made over the winter.

Those are nice, and the Kephart design is such a perfect all around pattern. Great job!

Thanks guys! I am happy with the way they turned out. Had it not been for this forum, I would still not understand the value of the Kephart design, that is why I wanted to share them here. The kids are both very happy. My daughter gets the smaller one to go with her wood fire steel and my son gets the bigger one to go with his antler fire steel (from last years 5pt :D). Now I just have to figure out how to make sheaths .

The larger one is proportioned 4.5"/4.5" and the smaller is 4"/4". Thanks for looking! Jeff

Ill hunt it up and send it to u

I bet your kids will love having gear which their dad made for them, makes them so much more special than any store bought.

Great stuff!

In the last few months, I've had the utter joy to watch kids use knives. The youngest now that has a mora is 5 year old. I've found that when you make a big deal about their potential to harm, and their potential to provide, the kids listen up and respect the tool right quick! It has amazed me how much a little tool can bestow maturity amongst the little ones!

Then again. I tend to watch this video too much.

That small one looks as good as some I've seen for sale. Nothing fancy, but I'm sure it get's the job done
