In the market for a laser beam slicer. What is your absolute favorite slicer? Size, lock, and toughness take a backseat.

FFG spydercos some of the best slicers ive EDCed. To narrow it down id say my sage 2 I like the blade shape of the sages and s30v its win win.

Anything from William Henry.

One of my William Henry's with ZDP-189. Like this one:

In a folder it would be one of my custom slipjoints. A thin bladed slipjoint will out slice any of my Spyderco's, Sebenza's, William Henry's, or any other brand I have. One of my William Henry T12's would be a very close second.

Anything else besides FFG spydies? I've ezperienced them all, and while I like them, I'm looking a step further. That WH is beautiful, but more coin than I wanna spend. Anybody used the Fallkniven U2?

Whoops. Sorry bob. Didn't see your last post. FWIW, my 0560 slices really well despite being overbuilt.

I have the A. G. Russell Fruit Testing Knife. Slipjoint, 4" cutting edge of ATS-34. Keep it on my kitchen counter for constant use. Had to sharpen it once this past year.

I believe the steel makes a difference in a knife s slicing ability. My Endura ffg with zdp 189 steel is a better slicer than any of my s30v ffg spydercos. The m 390 paramilitary2 is also awesome. How much better does it get? The Endura ffg zdp is an a great value at 90 dollars.

I have a U2 and it is not what you are looking for at all.

Spine is too thick.

Honestly, a $15 Opinel will outslice many of the knives already mentioned in my experience. ;)

Honestly? A Cold Steel Kudu made from Krupp 4116 steel. It holds it's edge quite well and is quick to touch up on a strop. I would toss my Opinels in the ring too.

Its geometry, not the steel. Steel matters when it comes to edge holding, toughness etc..
Your ZDP Endura likely had a thinner edge than your others. My ZDP Caly 3 had the thinnest edge of any of the Spyderco's I have ever had.

I've almost ordered one of those. I can't imagine another folder out there that would out slice one. Narrow blade, and it must be very thin at only 2oz for a 4.25" blade.

This. I don't use a chef's knife now that I have this puppy.

Barring culinary knives, though, I'm quite fond of my Opinels.
