On the back of a calender that came inside the Feb. '06 issue of Knives Illustrated there is a Heckler & Koch "ad" showing 2 smaller pics. One of them being the HK34 drop point in 3 variations, a black g10, OD g10, and another in tan. Does anyone know anything about these? Limited edition? Not available to public? Proto?

I really like the look of the OD handle variation. Any info is appreaciated :)

Been thru the Benchmade site and HK site looking earlier and couldn't find anything. Thanks though :)

and I have one sitting on my desk. The BM # is 14200SBT. The full HK number is HK34FDCB. Only had it for a couple of hours (just bought it tonight), but first impressions are:

Size and shape very similar to the 420. Just about 1/4" shorter. Blade is BK1 coated and half serrated and half smooth (on my model). Handle is partially aluminum (about 1/3) and the balance is G10 with a very sticky feel. Very non-slip I assume. Blade shape is very similar to the 420. Clip is typical Benchmade as is all the screws. Very slick AXIS action. Actually smoother than the 420 initially. Don't know what the liners are made of. From the appearance, look to be titanium. Could be aluminum as well. Don't know for certain. Overall first impressions are very positive. Time and useage will ultimitaly tell.

Richard, I think you have the normal HK34 DP with the aluminum and plastic overmold.

Here's a bad pic of the one's I'm talking about
